Measurement Properties for a Scale Assessing Self-Regulation in Parents and Parenting Practitioners

Abstract Parenting self-regulation is increasingly recognised as an important facet of positive parenting, it allows parents to manage their thoughts, behaviours, emotions and attention in order effectively carry out parenting tasks. Evidence-based programmes such the Triple P-Positive Program aim increase by teaching a range skills strategies deal with everyday parenting. Despite importance within field few measures assessing this construct are available. The current investigation aims add existing literature evaluating measurement properties brief parsimonious measure for both practitioners, Self-Regulation Scales (PSRS)—Parent Practitioner versions. Exploratory Confirmatory Factor Analyses gave support single-factor model parent version, was confirmed practitioner version. Both versions demonstrated excellent internal consistency hypothesis testing supported validity scales. results indicate that PSRS promising practitioners which could prove useful clinical work research field.
